The Cassini spacecraft arrived in Saturn orbit on July 1st, 2004.
Cassini was launched in 1997 and it took three years and fly-bys of three planets on four occasions to get there, two fly-bys of Venus, one of Earth-Moon system and one of Jupiter, using gravity assist to gather speed.
Cassini-s primary objectives included studying the rings , atmosphere and magnetosphere of Saturn and also studying Saturn's satellites.
