Although lately the Chinese Chang'e 3 missions lunar rover Yutu has been getting a lot of attention, then there's another new mission that hasn't gotten so much attention.
NASA's Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) has finally sent down its first images of the lunar surface that show craters and stars as the images were taken using the star tracker cameras that are used for exactly locating its whereabouts in space.
LADEE's mission has also recently been extended, so now it's expected to impact the Moon on around 21. April this year. The extension gives LADEE more time to collect data in a close lunar orbit.
