The United States Geologic Survey has published a geologic map of Ganymede, the largest moon in the Solar system and one of the icy moons of Jupiter.
The scientists used the data from the Voyager missions that flew past Ganymede in 1979 and also images from the Galileo mission that was orbiting the Jovian system in the years 1995 to 2003.
The geologic map will help to plan for the future missions to Ganymede as it gives information about the ages of certain geologic features on Ganymede.
The map is available for download here: http://pubs.usgs.gov/sim/3237/
Ganymede is of interest to scientists as it is one of the icy moons of Jupiter that might be able to support life.
